Local Attractions
Please explore our rich cultural history, legends and folklore. Enchanting rituals of old still abound in our dances or meke [pronounced meh keh].
Unexplained evidence of legends and folklore are alive and well as can be witnessed by the infamous fire walkers of Beqa Island [pronounced Benga] who are a major
attraction in most major resorts and hotels. Do not pass the opportunity if you do get the chance to see them perform.
Why not visit our museum in Suva and find out about our past history of tribal warfare, brutal cannibalism and the rituals that used to accompany these
ancient feats of savage warrior encounters.
There is the Sunday element of Christianity where hymns bellow forth into the heavens from the smallest villages to our major urban dwellings. Every
village has at least one church that serenades forth a magical harmonising of blended and untrained voices. If you can, try to experience this natural
phenomenon.
Depending on the season, if your lucky enough to attend a local game of rugby, which is our national sport by the way, you are bound to see world
renowned local rugby figures at their best.
If there is a rugby sevens tournament during your visit it will be a most enjoyable event to witness. World class players return home each year to don their local
colours and vie for positions in the national team. We have been champions of this international code for decades.
So, enjoy the Fiji Islands . . .
Miles of Isles and Isles of Smiles.
